Shining Stars is a programme designed for children aged 9 to 12, bridging the gap between Primary and Secondary school. During this stage, we focus on audience engagement, supporting our students to develop their physical expression through the three key disciplines to deliver more believable performances.
The session will start with 30 minutes of preperation exercises in which Bright Stars, Shining stars and Performing Stars will work together. This will be followed by three micro sessions lasting 45 minutes each.

Drama:
Shining Stars will learn about how to connect with the audience in order to engage them with the story and will learn how to convey a range of complex emotions. Students will also receive speech and vocal training, covering projection, accents and diction. Classes will be taught using a variety of scripted and improvisation exercises.

Singing:
Children at this stage will be introduced to vocal harmonies, helping them strengthen their vocal ability and allowing them to perform more complex pieces. Singing tuition covers a range of styles from musical theatre to modern pop and rock songs.

Dance:
Dance classes at this stage are designed to improve coordination and technique. Students have the chance to perform solos as well as ensemble routines, covering a range of styles including Street, Modern, Jazz, Indian, Urban, Contemporary and Ballet. At this stage students will also have the opportunity to devise and perform their own routines.
Students will be taught in a professional dance studio with mirrored wall, drama studio and music room to maximise their ability to learn.
Teachers will recognise and nurture individual talent and children who excel in all three areas will be invited to move up to the next stage, from the age of 12.
