Overview

We will only collect, use, and share your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This policy applies whether you enrol with Performing Stars, Performing Stars Dance School, LAMDA classes, Private Music Lessons, SKY Theatre, CAPELLA choir or any other services we provide. In addition, this Privacy Policy also covers Performing Star’s treatment of any personal information about our customers that our teachers or other services might share with us.

This policy does not apply to websites or services or practices of companies that Forrester Academies Ltd doesn’t own or control, such as third-party services you might access through links or other features (e.g., social media buttons or YouTube videos) on our website. These other services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them before providing them with personal information.

Whether you are new here (welcome!), or have been a part of Forrester Academies Ltd for a long time (Thank you!), please do take the time to get to know our privacy practices. We think they’re pretty clear and friendly, but if you have any questions, we’re here to help. You can send us an email at [email protected] at any time if you have questions. By using enrolling your child, you acknowledge that you accept and agree to this Privacy Policy.

How does Forrester Academies Ltd protect children’s personal information?

Protecting children’s privacy is especially important to us – we’re educators and parents ourselves, after all. This is why we are working towards signing the Student Privacy Pledge and gaining other Data Protection certificates.

What information does Forrester Academies Ltd collect from children, and how is it used?
Forrester Academies Ltd collects the minimal amount of information from students necessary to use our Service. Currently student accounts are created in the following ways: (1) by the student’s parent; (2) by an administrator of Forrester Academies Ltd. When creating an account we ask for the following information:

  1. Child’s full name and address
  2. Parents full name and address
  3. Contact numbers for the parents
  4. Emergency contact name and number
  5. School the child attends
  6. Date of Birth of the child
  7. Any Medical or SEN issues
  8. Doctors surgery
  9. Parents email address

The above information is absolutely necessary if we are to provide a safe environment for the children and run our business efficiently. We also need a lot of this information when we submit performance licences or request exemption certificates from the county council.

When creating the account, the parent choses their own password for their log in.

Please note that if you, as a parent, provide an email to PSA when you enrol, we may send an email out to you confirming receipt of your form and you will receive invoices and information specifically regarding the course your child is book on. You will also receive emails from us about other products/services we are offering which might be of interest to you. If you wish to opt out of these marketing emails, you may do so by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of our emails.

Photos

Once a student account is created (whether created by PSA or parent) and parental consent is obtained, parents will be able to take and upload photos, to their account. We also may take photos of the students for the purposes of programmes and promotional material for performances. By enrolling you agree to us taking and using these photos in line with our policy on social media and other such formats. If you do not wish us to photograph your child you must inform us, so this can be avoided. Our teachers often use social media to promote the school and show we are doing. Teachers may also video dances for example and post to a facebook group so that students are able to practice. Photos and videos may be taken on personal devises such as phones. These will be deleted from the device once used but may remain in our ‘cloud’ storage permanently. Photos are an important part of our business and keeping photos over the years of various shows and events etc is essential to the growth of our business. If you see a photo which has been published which you would like to be removed, please contact us and it will be removed and deleted immediately. We may also pass photos to the Melton Times and other newspapers to publish reviews of shows and workshops. Photos of children will also be sent to our printers (B&H midland services) for creating material such as programmes for shows. These are sold to a public audience and when you enrol your child with us you are agreeing to this. Should you not wish this to happen you must inform us.

Information collected automatically

In addition to the information listed above, we automatically collect some information from any use of our Service as set forth in the “Information collected automatically” section.

We use this information to provide our classes to the child, for security and safety purposes, as required by law, or to enforce our Terms. We will not require children to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary in order to participate in the classes. If we discover that we have collected information from a child in a manner inconsistent with published guidelines, we will take appropriate steps to either delete the information, or immediately seek the parent’s consent for that collection. We do not disclose any personal information about children to third-parties, except to service providers necessary to provide the Service, as required by law, or to protect the security of the Service or other users. Additionally, personal information collected from students is never used for behaviorally-targeted advertising to students by us or any third-party, and children’s personal information is never sold or rented to anyone, including marketers and advertisers.

What Children’s Information is Visible to Others?

No Parent’s or student’s account or profile, is made available or visible to the public through Forrester Academies Ltd. Only the student, the student’s parents, and staff can see this data. No child can upload content (such as a photo or) to the Service except through their parent’s account. This can’t happen for children without either (1) the parent providing parental consent directly to Forrester Academies Ltd or (2) the parent doing this themselves. On occasional children and parents may take photos on their own devices when at workshops or events etc and put these on social media. We have no control over this.

Forrester Academies Ltd may need to share certain information with their teachers if it means need to in order to provide the service or keep the child safe. For example, sharing medical information is essential for the safety of the children. However all staff will be receiving training on data protection.

How Long Does Forrester Academies Ltd Keep Children’s Information?

If a child hasn’t taken part in any activities with Forrester Academies Ltd for more than 3 years we will delete the account and all the information we hold on the child and the parents.

If you would like to have your account deleted you need to email [email protected] and we will delete your account immediately.

Parental Choices

Parents can view all the information we hold on their child. They can access this information by logging in using the account they created. At any time, parents can refuse to permit us to collect further personal information from their children, and can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from their child by contacting us. Please keep in mind that deleting records may require us to terminate the account in question.

What information does Forrester Academies Ltd collect?

We collect two types of information about you and your child: (1) information that you voluntarily provide us by using the Forrester Academies Ltd and (2) information collected automatically as result of your use of the Service (described below under “Information collected automatically”).

Information collected automatically

Like most web-based services, we (or our service providers) may automatically receive and log information on our server logs from your browser or your device when you use the Service. For example, this could include the frequency and duration of your visits to any Forrester Academies websites (similar to TV ratings that indicate how many people watched a particular show).

The technologies and information we automatically collect include:

Cookies and other similar technologies: We (or our service providers) may use cookies or similar technologies to identify your browser or device. We (or our service providers) may also use these technologies (never in student logged in areas of our Service) in connection with advertising of our services that may appear on other sites or in connection with advertising their products outside of our Service (e.g. if you view an embedded YouTube video player on our Service, YouTube may place cookies or similar technologies on your browser when you play the video off our site). We don’t allow these third-parties to advertise directly on our service (i.e. such as when an advertiser would bid to place an advertisement directly on a platform such as Facebook), but we may serve contextually relevant advertising for third-party products and services ourselves that we believe may be of interest to you.

Local storage: We may also use, collect and store information locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage (including HTML 5) and application data caches.
Like many services, Forrester Academies Ltd uses these technologies to analyse trends, gather demographic information, understand your engagement with the Forrester Academies Ltd Website, administer the Service, tailor the Service for you, and to help the Service work better for you – for example, by remembering your language preferences.

Server log information: Like most online services, when you use our Service, we automatically collect and store certain information in our server logs. Examples include things like:

Details of how you used our service, such as your activity on the Service, and the frequency and duration of your visits to any of our Forrester Academies Websites. Telephony log information like your phone number and SMS routing information

IP Address

Device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral URL

This information helps us make decisions about what we should work on next – for example, by showing which features are most (or least!) popular.

Information received from third-party sources

We may also obtain information, including personal information, from third-party sources to update or supplement the information you provided or we collected automatically. Local law may require you authorise the third-party to share your information with us before we can acquire it. This may include aggregated anonymous information or certain personal information that may be provided to us. If we receive personal information from third-parties, we will handle it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If we directly combine information we receive from other third-parties with personal information that we collect through the Service, we will treat the combined information as personal information and handle it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Additionally, we may use any aggregated anonymous information received by third-parties as set forth below under the heading “Aggregated Information and Non-Identifying Information”.

We may reject requests for access, change or deletion that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort (for example, developing a new system or fundamentally changing an existing practice), risk the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup systems).

Where we can provide information access and correction, we will do so for free, except where it would require a disproportionate effort. We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, even after you update or delete personal information you have provided us from our Service, your personal information may be retained in our backup files and archives for a reasonable period of time for legal purposes or for so long as is necessary in light of the purposes for which such records were collected or legitimately further processed.
